“SCANDINAVIAN ANTIQUITIES”


Dear Colleagues,

We would like to invite you to the First International Scientific Internet Conference “Scandinavian Antiquities”. The Conference will take place on 10-30 September 2009 to be held at ‘Dansk.Ru – History and Culture of Denmark ’ web-site.

The conference aim to create common space for fruitful exchange of ideas and research results specialists in different spheres, paying attention to the specific problems of Ancient Scandinavia. The scholars from different countries and abroad range of disciplines, including archaeology, history, ethnology, anthropology, linguistics, philology, art history, religious studies are invited to give presentations on the following themes:

1. Archaeological aspects of Ancient Scandinavia before the Viking Age
2. Language and written sources of Ancient Scandinavia
3. Material culture and art of the Viking Age
4. Historical background and value of Viking expansion to the Western Europe and British islands
5. Scandinavia and Russia during the Viking Age: archaeological aspect
6. Scandinavian mythology and religious believes of Scandinavians to the middle of 11th century.

Conference languages: Russian, English.

Requirements to reports. The text of report (till 20 000 characters) must be written by MS Word (.doc files). Text references are given in the square brackets. The full list of references is resulted after text before the literature. Images to reports are accepted in separate files.

Deadline for submission of full-length papers is 25th of August 2010.
